Brutal Tech Death Juggernaut Waiting to Supernova: Dystophic - S/T (2010)
I got a cosmology nerdgasm just looking at the album cover and song titles of this debut self titled EP from tech brutal death metallers, Dystrophic, from San Bernardino, CA. How many times had I gotten high and watched The Universe on the History Channel? I thought to myself. Apparently a lot because the opening track's title "Birth of the Magnetar" made sense to me visually.
So let's get into this bite size ear candy release's musical stellar core. Blazing fast brutal death drums with a large amount of tech death time signatures and blast beats. Guitars play much like Origin. Lyrics, according to Metal Archives, are "space and existence." So you can expect to see some of the same lyrics you might find in Decrepit Birth's catalog. The EP was released in 2010 so you can expect to possibly find a full length from this promising band in the coming months or years. The bass is audible but could be brought out more in the production which is hard to do with the sound of Origin-like noodling on the frets and possibly a low recording budget. Sevared, Lacerated Enemy or Unique Leader Records would be wise to pick up this band for their 2011 rosters. Only one member of the band had been in a metal band before but it doesn't seem to matter when it doesn't matter how hard it is for Origin to be your primary influence.
Fuck, I've said Origin more than Dystrophic in this post. If you love Origin download it, if you don't then I will find you and bring you into a world of pain.
